In a unexpected partnership that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Uncovered

According to the official release, "An unusual meeting draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of banned ceremonies and monstrous changes echo through the obscurity." The plot presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden cult.

The adventure concentrates on "bizarre tests and a monstrous foe" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Changes

The trailer features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Extra Material

Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an unique katana together with several artifacts concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Exclusive arms
• Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Addition

This update also adds the game's newest complimentary story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe reveals a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This signifies not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime series. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
